Counting the days. Until Christmas. Until 2018.
In a world where you can check emails on your wrist, send a photo instantly to a friend 3 time zones away and sync everything to your laptop, most people probably keep their calendars on their phone. But, there is something grounding about seeing the days laid out in order in the form of a beautiful desktop calendar. Here are some of my favorites! Perfect for gifting or for organizing yourself.
In my 20s, the one above was my favorite calendar! I usually got the 11×14 and hung it on the wall. I LOVED it, but have not seen it in a few years. I dug back in my memory for the name, Ling Chang, and was happy to see Ling is still painting her beautiful botanicals. She has two versions…in two sizes.
Prefer your desk a little more streamlined? Bell’invito has a gorgeously made, straightforward, heavy card stock, beveled-edged calendar. In a world of Oscar de la Renta, this is Calvin Klein.
The current calendar on my desk is by Karen Adams. I splurged this year for the couture version (think 3 dimensional), but the regular ones are every bit as charming! If you already have an easel (and you probably do), just order the refill. Giving as a gift…order the one with the easel!
One of the freshest voices in illustration and by extension, calendars, is Inslee Fariss! She has not one, but three, gorgeous desk calendars. Botanicals, fashion and animals. That could cover quite a few people on your gift list! I’m thinking about the botanical version for my 2018 calendar.
Most importantly….make each and every day count!
