With Spring just a dream at this point, I thought we could all use a virtual, visual garden this morning! The cheerful florals by Christy Kinard make me smile and wish for a big bouquet of blooms!
Growing up in the South, there were always fresh flowers in Christy’s home. And, there were more paintbrushes than pencils in her backpack as a high school student. She knew from an early age that she would be an artist and sold her first work to IBM at the age of eighteen. Even business people need to look at something cheery!!
Christy attended both Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and the Atlanta College of Art and spent 4 years in England. The Tate Modern and the Saatchi Gallery were both influential to Christy and it was during this time that she loosened up her painting. Going to fabric and paper stores, she began to incorporate these elements into her paintings, creating the mixed media look that I am drawn to.
Enjoy the blooms below and to see more of Christy’s work, you can find the galleries that represent her here.
I have to say there is something wonderful about flowers that last forever!

Hi Nancy!
That is so fun to know that Christy’s mom is a friend and about Kim’s collaboration. Grant & I bought one of Kim’s paintings (Big Ears Hear the News) when we lived in Charlotte and it is one of my favorites!! xx
