Small businesses are a labor of love and also the small engine that fuels our American economy. So, in many ways they are both a workhorse and romantic ideal. Watson Kennedy, in Seattle, is both those things. For 20 years, Ted Kennedy Watson and his team have been delighting shoppers with this emporium of great style, gracious gifts and visual inspiration.
Known for their window designs, each season passers-by are treated to thematically coordinated displays. Here are the current windows at the First Avenue location.
As part of the 20th anniversary celebration, Ted recently appeared on New Day in Seattle discussing tablescape ideas for Thanksgiving and beyond. Take a look here!
Having visited the stores in person, I can attest to the depth and breadth of their offerings. Photos simply don’t do the shops justice, but Ted has been putting together gift guides that try and capture some of what is in the shop that may not be on the website. Now’s a great time to get those holiday gifts, so if you see something that captures your eye, give them a call. They wrap and ship everywhere!
This Saturday, my dear friend, Jeanne McKay Hartmann, will be in store 1:30-4pm, painting her annual holiday design. There is usually a champagne bottle or monogram involved, and it will be a “whaley” fun event with whales center stage. The shop can take orders for personalized watercolors before the event if you live out of town!
Congratulations, Ted, to you and your team on 20 years of creating such warm, welcoming, and delightful shops!
It’s time to celebrate and break open the Veuve!
It’s such a wonderful shop, I’m so lucky to have it so near. I need to get down there pronto — so many great things. I love the tissue that Jeannie has designed for them, did you see it?? Thank you Elizabeth.
You are indeed lucky, Emily, to have it nearby! I’ve only seen a photo of the tissue, but so excited for Jeanne!! Happy Holidays! xx e
