It’s Spring!

DSC_0039-1024x685It’s Spring!! At least the calendar says it’s Spring.

The weather….not so much in these parts. And, to me, Spring means the Cherry Blossoms in Washington, D.C. This was a tough year for the cherry blossoms, as half of them were almost fully bloomed when Stella rolled through town. But, all is not lost. The latest from the National Weather Service is that the peak will be later this week, March 23-26th.

My boys are currently on Spring Break, which is when I was able to capture these photos of fully blooming cherry blossoms in D.C. a number of years ago. We haven’t been back since and need to plan a revisit. We never saw the White House and the Washington Monument was under repair, so those are the things we’d really like to do.

But, being there when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom…would be the most magical of all. So, for those of you can’t get there in person…these are for you!DSC_0044-685x1024 DSC_0047-1024x685 DSC_0071-1024x685 DSC_0072-1024x685 DSC_0073-1024x685Happy Spring, everyone! It’s time for things to start blooming!

Spring Means Cherry Blossoms

Springtime is practically synonymous with the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.
The festival runs March 20-April 13, 2014, but due to this year’s difficult winter, the blooms are more likely to bloom in April than they are in March.
Anyone who knows me in real life, knows that I’ve experienced my share of travel woes. But, every once in a while, I get lucky. Such was the case, two years ago, when our family planned a visit to D.C. for the Centennial celebration of the cherry blossoms. We hit the peak!
These are my own photos from that glorious few days. We paddled boated in the tidal basin to get a true panoramic view, but seeing them up close, in mass, was magical.

If you want to know when the cherry blossoms will hit full bloom, you can check Bloom Watch! The current prediction is April 8-12th.

Here’s to everything blooming soon!!!

Cheers for the Cherry Blossoms

Surrounded by a cloud of pink, we savored the expanse of cherry blossoms, in full bloom in Washington, DC.

And, marveled at the impressive architecture that makes up our capitol.

I know our founding fathers would have been proud at how beautiful the city looks today. Don’t you agree?
