Pinata Day & Cinco de Mayo

IMG_8508-768x1024Did you know tomorrow is National Pinata Day? Well, I’m sure you know Cinco de Mayo is in a few weeks, so talking pinatas seems quite timely. I’ve always loved a pinata, but once I discovered Lula Flora, I found myself looking for ways to incorporate them into a party or a simple Tex-Mex dinner.

Lula Flora creates customized pinatas, which are perfect for place settings, party favors or surprise gifts. They’ve gone beyond the expected shapes, so if you can dream it they can make it.il_570xN.951108598_iol9 il_570xN.1081999309_340s il_570xN.1141572220_a0p8il_570xN.980193198_hr13 il_570xN.1161818046_a5fsil_570xN.925694706_pg8j il_570xN.1205767933_mdzp IMG_8529-e1461274864488-768x1024So if your fiesta needs a little kick, order some custom pinatas and they’ll be the figurative and literal “hit” of your party!

Fiesta Friday

IMG_8511Hola! It’s the weekend and it’s time to start thinking Cinco de Mayo. Last year, I introduced you to my favorite source for fun, fiesta-inspired party items, Lula Flora. You can see that post here.

This year, they’ve upped their game with fiesta confetti (I do love confetti!) and custom pinatas ready for mailing. They would be perfect to send an invitation for Cinco de Mayo or a casual fiesta. You could stuff it full of little treats…not just candy.

I customized my pint-sized pinatas (pick as many colors as you like and 1 metallic) …and then stumbled across the matching embroidered cocktail napkins in Dallas at Madison. You won’t find them on their website, so give them a call (214-528-8118) if you need some for the upcoming holiday.IMG_8533 IMG_8506Of course, this was a great opportunity to practice my margarita-making skills. I did a straight forward recipe, but want to try grapefruit margaritas next time.IMG_8529IMG_8508 IMG_8527M is for margaritas!! Hope your weekend feels like one big fiesta!

Cinco de Mayo – Personalized Piñatas

Happy May!

There are a lot of fun days to celebrate this month: The Kentucky Derby, Mother’s Day and Memorial Day, but one of my all time favorites is Cinco di Mayo!!! I’m sure it’s a Texas-thing. Tex-Mex is hands down my favorite food category. Give me a a basket of chips and guacamole and a fresh made margarita (on the rocks with salt, please), and I am a happy gal!

I’ve been playing around with table settings for a casual celebration and had to share my new source for custom, mini piñatas

Lula Flora will let you select as many tissue colors + 1 metallic color for your custom piñata! I chose hot pink, lime green, orange, purple, yellow and gold metallic.
These are very well made, with a hidden opening for candy or small treats. I’m not sure I have the heart to rip these apart, as they make for such a cute party favor or place card for a fiesta any time!

Wishing you mucho fun this weekend! Whether you’re watching the Derby with mint juleps or sitting on the sidelines of your child’s sporting events!

Life is the fiesta!! Make yours full of color!!
