Hot Cocoa Bars

Screen Shot 2015-11-15 at 11.58.50 PMAs the temperatures drop and we begin to enjoy nights at home in front of a fire, I have found myself craving steaming hot cups of cocoa. What a perfect way to entertain guests of all ages throughout the holidays or on a chilly winter day.

Gather marshmallows, stir sticks (cinnamon, chocolate, peppermint), mugs, whipped cream, chocolate shavings and find a spot to house it all. That way, whenever someone stops by, you’ll be ready!Screen Shot 2015-11-15 at 11.59.56 PM Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 12.00.54 AM Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 12.01.19 AMScreen Shot 2015-11-16 at 12.02.16 AM Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 12.01.49 AMWhat a fun gift to give to neighbors and friends….ready-made cocoa bar fixings! Couldn’t we all use a little comfort these days?

Here’s to staying warm on the inside!

Holiday Cookies + Family Time

Winter break has started and my boys are begging to do some baking. Mixing and measuring seem fun to them and there’s nothing like licking the spoon.

My youngest has a love (no idea where he got it from) of red velvet, so when I saw this recipe, I knew we had to try them.

These white chocolate dipped ginger cookies will be in the mix, too!

Finally, we’ve just about finished a delicious gift of chocolate dipped peppermint pretzels. It has me craving a pop of peppermint, so these peppermint sugar cookies will round out our baking session nicely!

I’ll be taking the rest of the week off to spend time with family, do some holiday baking and enjoy sitting in front of the fire with the stack of books I’ve been meaning to dive into.

Wishing each one of you a wonderful holiday week and for those who celebrate…a very Merry Christmas!!!!! I hope it’s sweet!

Country Girl

After a week of getting in touch with my inner “country girl”, I’m back! Visiting family, in the nation’s heartland (Kansas), is a great way to slow down and enjoy being outside with my favorite “cowboys”.  I’ve loved horses since I was a child, so getting a ride in before breakfast was the highlight of my time at the ranch.
Enjoy a peek at my week…I was channeling the Pioneer Woman!

Now, if I can just get the Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton songs to stop running through my head!

How did you wrap up summer? Are you ready for Fall?
