Veterans Day – Dine Out for Heroes

dine-out-for-heroes-logoIt’s time to come together. And, what better cause than our military heros. This Friday, on Veterans Day, consider joining one of the many NYC restaurants, such as Nobu, the Lambs Club, Michael Jordan’s Steakhouse, Butter, Beauty & Essex, Chez Josephine, BLT Steak and more that will be contributing money to the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

The foundation invests in programs that benefit our nation’s heros. The mission of the Bob Woodruff Foundation is to create long-lasting positive outcomes for our nation’s wounded, ill and injured veterans, service members and their families.dofhdofh-bannerNew Yorkers and visitors to the Big Apple have big appetites, but even bigger hearts. If you’re eating out on Friday….think about supporting those who make our freedom possible. You can find the entire list of participating restaurants here.

A NYC Gem – Stick With Me

screen-shot-2016-09-13-at-9-22-39-pmI always love getting an email or text from an out-of-town friend asking what they should do on an upcoming trip to NYC. Though I don’t live in the city anymore, I’m not too far away and love to try and keep up with what’s happening in the Big Apple. I can give them the usual list, but I think sharing the “little gems” in the city is something I will try to incorporate into my recommendations.

So, that brings me to one of the reasons I want to share about Stick With Me. The other reason I want to share this little jewel of a shop is because I’m obsessing over bonbons. On our recent vacation to California, we had the most delectable bonbons (not your average chocolate) on our bedside table at turndown. I looked forward to these little morsels. They were THAT good.

Stick With Me opened in Nolita a little over a year ago and has already been lauded by Vanity Fair, Robb Report, Bazaar, Pure Wow, GQ and numerous other sources. Susanna Yoon, head chocolatier and founder of Stick With Me  discovered her love of desserts at the world renown restaurant, Per Se.  Bringing a Thomas Keller level perfection to her tiny confections has set her apart from all the others.

In addition to bonbons, Susanna’s team hand makes caramels, toffees, nougats, nut butters and elegant little cakes. But, since I’m partial to bonbons….that’s what I’m focusing on today! screen-shot-2016-09-13-at-9-22-48-pm screen-shot-2016-09-13-at-9-23-22-pmscreen-shot-2016-09-13-at-9-53-06-pm screen-shot-2016-09-13-at-9-53-18-pm screen-shot-2016-09-13-at-9-53-59-pm screen-shot-2016-09-13-at-9-40-07-pm screen-shot-2016-09-13-at-9-40-43-pmThere are so many delicious options, the best way to make a selection is to stop by Stick With Me n next time you’re in the Nolita neighborhood. 202A Mott St. (10am-8pm) 646-918-6336

As for something sweet….I’ll stick with these little treats!

Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

May is full of so many delightful holidays and celebrations, but none is more important than Mother’s Day! Mom doesn’t really need much, but she’d love a handwritten note and a little treat. Just to let her know you care. If you are stumped on what to do, flowers are always welcome. Bath products are a winner. And, of course, you get extra points (though she’s not really keeping score) if you give her something personalized.

But, in case you need a few ideas….here are some that I think are just great!

The new Floral Collection from Lettermade are vibrant and beautiful. A portion of the proceeds from the purple set goes to the Alzheimer’s Association, in memory of the founder’s Nonnie, who inspired the brand.

Who doesn’t love a gorgeous candle? Aerin really does deliver an outstanding product that simply needs a ribbon, as the boxes are little works of art.Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 11.23.11 PM 040516_Category_Banner_Home_New_Arrivals_01I wrote about Farmgirl Flowers a while back, and they are doing some fun options for Mother’s Day. They will have 4 size options for their standard Mother’s Day bouquet. Below is an example of the next to largest size. They start at $45 for a smaller version.

Not a text, but an actual phone call unless you’re taking Mom to lunch. I wish I lived close enough to do just that. Love you, Mom!
