Memorial Day is Near

IMG_6545-1Memorial Day Weekend is coming up (unofficial beginning of summer)! As I think about how I want to dress the house this year, I always enjoy looking back at what I’ve done before. It’s fun to change things up, so I’ll use prior years as a guide and try to give it a new twist.

So…these are from the archives.IMG_6556

Flags will be flying here soon!

Shop to Know – The Maryn

bedroomWhat is it about the water that we find so calming?

Well, Michelle Adams, of Domino fame, has recently launched a new business, The Maryn (meaning of the sea), which celebrates all the best aspects of laid-back seaside holiday. Michelle believes that we can bring those elements into our homes so that we can breathe, unwind and get back to our roots.

Michelle sought inspiration from her favorite seaside spots: Sausalito, Montauk, the south of France and the shores of Lake Michigan.

She’s partnered with favorite artists and makers, such as Caitlin McGauley and Julie Terestman to offer exclusive prints, textiles and ceramics. There is a lot to love and it’s the type of things you’ll have forever. As a magazine editor, Michelle found that “trends are fleeting, so I’ve curated pieces that are here to stay.”TheMaryn_CamilleStyles-7FURNITURE hero_lifestyle static1.squarespace-1 static1.squarespace-2 static1.squarespace-3 static1.squarespace-4 static1.squarespaceAnd, I couldn’t help but notice a lot of red, white and blue…which seemed appropriate today.

Check out The Maryn…there’s a lot to love!

Lux Holdups – Lucite Designs

il_570xn-757139583_97rnI came across an article I had torn out of the Wall Street Journal and it (along with a conversation with a friend in search of some lucite curtain rods) prompted me to share this today. Lux Holdups, created by Ashley Platt in 2013, is creating stylish and useful lucite home decor. Think curtain rods, towel rods, side tables, closet tabs, drawer pulls….or anything else you can dream up that is clear and shiny!

To the trade or directly to you, Ashley and her team are creating lucite fashions at their factory in Brooklyn, NY. il_570xn-739621583_f379 il_570xn-742575606_d3nqil_570xn-1004616762_hupu il_570xn-739575973_i3v5 il_570xn-815419505_ep8v il_570xn-923094635_eu2k il_570xn-945424212_bd97 il_570xn-1107924417_ps29It’s clear to me that Ashely is really on to something!
