Happy New Year – 2nd Annual Parade of Tulips

img_8177Happy New Year! I hope your 2017 is off to a great start!!

It’s always fun to look back over the past year to see what you tried, accomplished, where you traveled, who you saw and milestones that were celebrated. But, today I’d like to look back at 2016 via the tulips that caught my eye along my travels or that I brought home to enjoy. As with last year, today’s post coincides with the Parade of Roses, so I’m doing my own Parade…of Tulips. Unless otherwise noted, the tulips are pictured at my home.img_8251 img_8258 img_8317Highland Park Village, Dallas, TXimg_8369The Lovliest, Dallas, TXimg_8377Blueprint, Dallas, TXimg_8412 img_8515 img_8737 dsc_0251Bunny Williams’ Trade Secrets, Sharon, CTimg_0029Hudson Grace, Brentwood Country Mart, Los Angelos, CAimg_9096artwork by Jeanne McKay Hartmann at Nest Inspired Home, Rye, NYimg_9597Look back on your 2016 to decide what you want more of in 2017! I’ll definitely be looking for more tulips and more travels. And, remember no matter where you are….bloom where you are planted!

May this be your best year yet!

Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Friday! This week, as most, flew by! From Trade Secrets to Kips Bay to some meetings and school concerts…it’s been FULL! But, isn’t that what’s life’s all about?!? I’ve had some people near and dear to me that have suffered some losses lately, so it serves as a reminder to make time for the things and the people that you love. I may be a little bit tired….but I’ve had so much fun. I’ll sleep on Sunday!

One of the week’s highlights is a visit from my darling friend, Jeanne McKay Hartmann, all the way from Seattle. She’s here in Rye for the day and will be sharing some of her framed work, as well as painting and personalizing pink and blue versions of the tote you see above. We’ll be at Nest Inspired Home today from 1-5pm and I’d love to see you. Come say hello, meet Jeanne and have her customize a little piece for you. Maybe give it as a gift to someone you hold dear.unnamed-10 unnamed unnamed-11

Love her work, but want something custom? She can do it…but she has just a few spots open. So, call Nest Inspired Home (914-921-6378) to reserve one the spots.

Enjoy the weekend!!!

Special Event on May 20th – Artist Jeanne McKay Hartmann

unnamed-8Get out your calendars and mark down Friday, May 20th! My dear friend and Seattle based artist, Jeanne McKay Hartmann will be making a special 1-day only appearance at Nest Inspired Home in Rye, New York between 1-5pm. Her visit coincides with the Rye Home Tour, so tour the houses in the morning and then stop by before or after lunch to meet her, say hello and see her sought after watercolors!

Jeanne’s mother always carried crayons in her handbag to keep her daughter’s busy hands occupied. Portraits of Queen Elizabeth, the family dog and flowers drawn on restaurant paper placemats were the artist’s first works. Today, she creates commissioned pieces for private clients such as Aerin Lauder and custom paintings for retailers, including her favorite Seattle shop, Watson Kennedy and now on the East Coast at Nest Inspired Home. She is known for happy, vibrant watercolors that capture the beauty of life’s everyday moments and has been touted by both Town & Country and Elle Decor.
unnamed-9For this upcoming event, Jeanne has created a capsule collection, especially for Nest Inspired Home, based upon our conversations about how people live and what they appreciate in our corner of the world.  Below is a glimpse of what will be in store. If something captures your eye, please contact Nest Inspired Home directly via 3chicks@nestinspiredhome.com or 914.921.NEST (6378) to ensure you can have one of Jeanne’s original paintings! Her art is widely followed on Instagram, and her original works sell quickly, so don’t miss this opportunity!unnamed unnamed-1 unnamed-2In addition to her framed pieces, Jeanne will be painting live, in store, from 1-5pm, creating original 4 x 6 watercolors of monogramed, flower-filled tote bags, ready to carry into summer. Each work is “one of a kind”, and would make a perfectly lovely and unique hostess gift to give this season. Or birthday gift. Or a little gift for yourself. Take a peek at what she created for me and for the ladies at Nest Inspired Home! I will be there the entire time and would love to personally introduce you to Jeanne!!!unnamed-3 unnamed-5 unnamed-10A native Pacific Northwest girl, Jeanne lives in Seattle with her husband when she’s not packing her brushes and sketchbook for Paris, Nantucket, Sun Valley or other faraway places. Trust me when I tell you she is the girlfriend you would all love to have! We are so fortunate that Jeanne loves New York City and Nantucket and is fitting in a trip to Rye between visiting both places!

Jeanne’s work has become so popular, that her wait list to begin new work starts in early 2017. As a special treat to my readers, both local or virtual, she is reserving 6 spots at the beginning of the year for custom work. If you have something special in mind….a house portrait, pet portrait, favorite vacation place, garden or bar cart vignette or something else….please contact Nest Inspired Home to reserve one of these coveted spots!unnamed-12

I can’t wait to see you all and introduce you to my darling, talented friend! See you Friday, May 20th between 1-5pm!
