Maniac Clothing – Crazy Good

Screen Shot 2017-06-13 at 9.05.00 PMRecently a friend from Dallas introduced me to an amazing new clothing line, Maniac.

The capsule collection includes the basics that any wardrobe needs, but they are particularly well cut and incredibly comfortable. I admired the line on my friend and was pulled in when I heard the mission of the company, but didn’t want to share about it until I had personally tried their pieces. I have….and I’m sold! I have the slouchy, long sleeved t-shirt in white and black and the wide sleeved shrug (workhorse piece) and these are pieces I could live in every day. Ideal travel pieces.

Now, that we’ve covered the main aspect of this company, let me tell you about it’s underlying purpose. Founder, Meredith Casey, learned that her brother was diagnosed with Bipolor Disorder a few years ago. As she began to research the illness and how it would affect their relationship, she realized that it was just one of many mental illnesses that we as a society don’t like to talk about. Why do we “look the other way”, she wondered, when mental illness affects millions of Americans and in many instances is a factor in abuse, homelessness and suicide? She felt she had to do something…and Maniac was born.

Meredith combines her passion for comfortable fashion with compassion for her brother and people like him. 100% of Maniac’s net profits (yes, 100%) are donated to Dallas’s Child and Family Guidance Center – an organization that has been providing counseling and treatment to those in need for more than 100 years.

So, try the line because you’ll love it. Suppor the line because you’ll be helping those in need.Screen Shot 2017-06-13 at 9.06.36 PM Screen Shot 2017-06-13 at 9.03.12 PM Screen Shot 2017-06-13 at 8.58.57 PM Screen Shot 2017-06-13 at 8.58.22 PMWe’re all a little crazy sometimes, right?!

Rare Gems of India

screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-33-29-pmI first spied Heather Asbury’s jaw dropping jewelry on a trip to Dallas, TX. A favorite boutique had samples of her monogramed cuffs, and I have had them on the brain ever since. Heather imports her precious and semi-precious stones from all over the world and designs bespoke pieces that are truly heirloom.

With a background in couture fashion at Emanuel Ungaro and Neiman Marcus, and award winning interior designs with Asbury Designs, Heather simply has an eye and instinct for beautiful things. What began as a personal shopping expedition in India for rare gems has resulted in a passion for creating stunning jewelry through her company, Rare Gems of India.

I’m particularly drawn to her monogramed cuffs, dog tags and lockets, although she has rings, earrings and bangles that can be purchased without any personalization. These are special pieces, so the prices reflect that. I think her work speaks for itself.screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-33-36-pm screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-33-42-pm screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-34-07-pm screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-34-18-pm screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-34-26-pm screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-35-44-pm screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-35-55-pm screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-36-17-pm screen-shot-2016-10-13-at-2-36-30-pmTo have Heather design something just for you, contact her here.
