Party in Purple

IMG_8272Finding a starting place for a party is part of the fun. An anniversary,  a favorite food or region, a holiday or season or in this case…a favorite color. Purple! I love it when someone has a favorite color because it is an easy jumping off point for parties and gifts. Not everyone has a favorite color, I have found. And, I think that’s rather interesting.

Here’s a sneak peek at a little party for a friend who loves purple. From the bar cart to the dinner table to the party favors of potted hyacinths….purple was center stage.IMG_8273 IMG_8275 IMG_8276IMG_8277

Do YOU have a favorite color of theme you’d want a party to center around? I’m always looking for inspiration, so please share!

Friday Flowers-Todd Fiscus

Todd Fiscus, whose firm did the flowers for my mother’s 70th birthday party, is a fixture on the Dallas event scene. You can find him currently in the November issue of Southern Living, setting a Thanksgiving table with a dramatic black-and-lavender color scheme. Probably not what you were expecting.
Todd suggests adding black for big impact.
Use a black place mat, napkin and charger, but lighten the look with a white dinner plate. For a more traditional Thanksgiving color, try linens in chocolate brown.
Todd’s number one holiday tip:
“Stress less about the details, and put more energy into the people”.
So, who are you entertaining for Thanksgiving?
