Trade Secrets Coming Up – May 13,14

DSC_0207-686x1024For the past 2 years, I have delighted in attending Trade Secrets, the quintessential rare plants and garden antiques show, conceived of by Bunny Williams! Located at the bucolic Lion Rock Farm in Sharon, CT, selected vendors display thier plants and garden accessories under tents and out in the open.

This year, I will sadly miss the event, but want to encourage you to make the trip if you can! This year it is on Mother’s Day weekend, May 13th and 14th. The sale will happen on the 13th and the private gardens tour will occur on the 14th. The garden of Bunny Williams and John Rosselli is among the gardens you can tour.

My advice is get there EARLY! Wear wellies or shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. And, come ready to have fun! If you want to grab a yummy lunch, I love the White Hart Inn in nearby Salisbury.

Here are a few shots from my last visit.DSC_0209-676x1024 DSC_0213-685x1024 DSC_0219-685x1024 DSC_0220-685x1024 DSC_0221-850x1024DSC_0259-1024x685 DSC_0222-685x1024 DSC_0227-685x1024 DSC_0254-1024x685If you love to garden, this event is not to be missed! Give Bunny my best!

Happy New Year – 2nd Annual Parade of Tulips

img_8177Happy New Year! I hope your 2017 is off to a great start!!

It’s always fun to look back over the past year to see what you tried, accomplished, where you traveled, who you saw and milestones that were celebrated. But, today I’d like to look back at 2016 via the tulips that caught my eye along my travels or that I brought home to enjoy. As with last year, today’s post coincides with the Parade of Roses, so I’m doing my own Parade…of Tulips. Unless otherwise noted, the tulips are pictured at my home.img_8251 img_8258 img_8317Highland Park Village, Dallas, TXimg_8369The Lovliest, Dallas, TXimg_8377Blueprint, Dallas, TXimg_8412 img_8515 img_8737 dsc_0251Bunny Williams’ Trade Secrets, Sharon, CTimg_0029Hudson Grace, Brentwood Country Mart, Los Angelos, CAimg_9096artwork by Jeanne McKay Hartmann at Nest Inspired Home, Rye, NYimg_9597Look back on your 2016 to decide what you want more of in 2017! I’ll definitely be looking for more tulips and more travels. And, remember no matter where you are….bloom where you are planted!

May this be your best year yet!

A Day at Trade Secrets

DSC_0207My 2nd annual visit to Bunny William’s Trade Secrets in Sharon, CT, did not disappoint! We arrived before 8am, with the fog enveloping the landscape. But, as the sun began to peek out and we made our way in line, we spotted Martha (Stewart), Kevin (Sharkey), Bunny (Williams) and a number of other notable faces from the design and garden world.

The set up at Lionrock Farm is pastoral and picturesque. Tents dot the landscape…loaded with rare plants and garden antiques. Breakfast for the “early birds” is set up in the big barn and then you are able to leisurely  roam the grounds in search of the perfect plant or pot.DSC_0209 DSC_0211 DSC_0213 DSC_0216 DSC_0217DSC_0214 DSC_0218 DSC_0219 DSC_0220 DSC_0221 DSC_0222 DSC_0225DSC_0227 DSC_0226 DSC_0228 DSC_0229 DSC_0230 DSC_0236 DSC_0238 DSC_0239 DSC_0240 DSC_0241 DSC_0242 DSC_0243 DSC_0248 DSC_0250 DSC_0251 DSC_0253 DSC_0254 DSC_0256 DSC_0258 DSC_0259 DSC_0260 DSC_0261 DSC_0262 IMG_8929Have I planted the seeds for you to visit next year? I hope so! I’d love to see you there!
