My youngest son’s birthday is in September. And, for some reason it is always the perfect time to host a fiesta…I mean party!
The weather in New York is temperate, the kids have just returned to school after being apart for the summer and everyone is in the mood to get together. For me, it is an excuse to get creative, enjoy some tacos and order cake! Over the years, I have returned to a theme I seem to love.
Fete – Festival – Fiesta
Taco Bout a Birthday party
The goal was to have the party outside since we had quite a few teenagers. I had the Bodega Taco Truck from Darien, CT for the food.
I set up tables on the front lawn, which gave easy access to the driveway and the taco truck. I used piñatas for the centerpieces and to had rechargeable lights for when the sun went down.
A giant 15 balloon sculpture was a surprise for my son and let the party guests know they had arrived! On the side lawn, we set up inflatable archery, as teenagers really like to move around. Ping pong was set up out back, along with chips, guac, drinks and a caricature artist..
After everyone had their fill of tacos, we cut into this stunning cake by Sweet Melissa’s in Cos Cob, CT. Piñata cookies were the final flourish and party favor.
Ole like no one is watching! And fiesta whenever you can!
