When you have a summer birthday as I do, there was one reoccurring gift that you tended to receive when growing up. Beach towels. It was one of those funny things….I probably didn’t appreciate it as much as I would today. Now, I have a “thing” for cool beach towels.
Although this collection for D. Porthault is out of my price range…I thought it would be fun to share as the top image graced the cover of Vogue on this day, July 15, 1926! . The image is by Spanish artist, Eduardo Garcia Benito. During the 1920s, Benito’s famous illustrations of elongated faces and necks became known as the Big Heads…and often graced the cover of Vogue.
Here are some other pretty fabulous beach towels by D. Porthault.
I guess if you vacation in St. Tropez or St. Barts, this might be the type of beach accessory you could splurge on (lucky you!!), but my favorite towels come from Lands End with our family name monogrammed in a contrast color. Which is especially helpful when you seem to be visiting the “lost and found” at the pool each weekend!
Stay cool this week….it looks like we’re in for a scorcher! Better hit the pool and grab your beach towel!
