Raise A Glass to 2015

When we think of New Year’s, champagne usually comes to mind. Perhaps you like it, perhaps you don’t…but you might just sip some bubbly on New Year’s Eve. When I think of champagne, I think of celebrations. Large and small. Minute and magnificent. Life is, after all, to be celebrated!

As I look back on 2015, I was touched to see how many celebrations I marked with friends and family…Valentine’s, birthdays (mine and others), lunches with blog friends at Bergdorf Goodman, dinners at the Polo Bar, backyard parties with neighborhood friends, a post Modern Mix luncheon celebration, a sunny summer soiree in Seattle, holidays and more. But, you won’t find me drinking champagne by myself. That’s part of the connection and the celebration. I enjoy the clinking of the glasses and the making of toasts. IMG_5588 IMG_5682_2no champs st paddys IMG_6485 champs in seattle IMG_5889 IMG_6628 birthday champs champs at home IMG_6249 IMG_6650 champs napkins IMG_6029 IMG_5963 IMG_5550 halloween champsnew years champs

So, here’s to YOU!!! May you look back on 2015 with fondness and ahead to 2016 with hope. And, above all, I encourage you to celebrate. Every. Single. Day. However you like. As for me….I’ll have a glass of champagne with an orange twist!

Cheers! May this coming year be your best ever!

Seattle Garden Party

Just back from Seattle and reflecting on an amazing few days. This was my inagural visit to Seattle, so my friends Jeanne, the insanely talented illustrator and blogger from I Dream of Jeanne and Dana, interior designer and hostess extraordinaire, hosted a Pretty Pink Luncheon for me.
They gathered an intimate group of their friends whom they knew I would enjoy meeting, ordered up a beautiful day and set a table straight out of magazine. We were welcomed with pink champagne and rosé, set out in vintage champagne buckets.
Both my friends love blue and white, so that combined with pink became the afternoon’s color theme.
Dana & Jeanne
Knowing of my love of pink Veuve Clicquot, they had these delicious cookies made and then Jeanne hand-painted the accompanying tags with each person’s name as the place cards. In addition to being a complete “wow”, each person has a special keepsake of this day. I DO love a favor!
You know it’s a great party, when lunch turns into cocktails by the pool and you finally drag yourself away at dinnertime. This was such a magical day and I feel truly blessed to have made such special friends and to have created memories that will last a lifetime.
We’re pretty sure Seattle is fresh out of rosé, so if you’re looking for some this weekend….we’re really sorry!

Lunch with Friends

Right before Mother’s Day, I invited a small group of friends to lunch at my house.

Just an excuse to get together, use the Leontine Linen napkins and the tablecloth that Eddie & Jaithan had used to decorate their “wow” table for our event last November.

My 6 year old had accidentally locked the powder bath door the morning of the luncheon….and I had to attend his Kindergarten concert, so my picture taking time was greatly reduced. Just a reminder that you have to be prepared for anything when entertaining….or know which friend to call! Thanks, J!

Above are just some snippets of what was a lovely mid day escape with some women I truly adore!

The last image is one of the many darling hostess gifts I received.

How do you like to entertain at home?
