What’s Old is New Again

In my rush last week at the event for Eddie Ross, I didn’t even realize that I had snapped some images on my phone. I am enamored by the various containers that I either sold to attendees or brought home. All were sourced by Outdoors Contained, who graciously did all the centerpieces, from a local church thrift shop. All the proceeds from the Rye Presbyterian Church thrift shop go to various local non-for-profits, so it made their choices even sweeter.

Decanters, tea cups, tea pots, brass vases, porcelain bowls and a glass swan, all became the perfect vessels for genteel arrangements that were a nod and a wink at our speaker, Eddie Ross, and his “Modern Mix“. EDDIE_ROSS-18_hiresIMG_7409IMG_7388IMG_7408IMG_7407IMG_7406IMG_7391IMG_7390IMG_7405IMG_7387IMG_7437

So, the next time you find a one-off of anything, think about how it might work as a vessel for an arrangement and not necessarily what it was intended for. What’s old…is then new again!

Eddie Ross in Rye – Modern Mix Book Tour

Oh, what a day!

Yesterday, I had the distinct privilege of hosting a luncheon and book signing for friends, Eddie Ross & Jaithan Kochar. It basically combined some of my all time favorite things: lunch, friends, inspiration for entertaining and lots of color!

Eddie loves to share his tips and tricks, so we decided that a format in which he could do a presentation would be ideal. One thing led to another and with the support of some amazing partners, we tried to create a memorable occasion for all who attended.

J. McLaughlin generously gave $50 gift cards to every guest and provided the colorful totes so that everyone could carry their book out in style! Nest Inspired Home, which is based in Rye, gave away a gorgeous entertaining bundle (complete with champagne, Kim Seybert napkins and napkin rings, cocktail napkins and a Jonathan Adler catchall, value = $1100) to one lucky guest. Hope you like it, Brooke! Cynthia Hudson Style gave away a two-hour wardrobe or shopping consultation (value = $200) in addition to a lovely basket filled with beauty products from Blue Mercury. Enjoy, Alicia!

Outdoors Contained, owned by a local, dynamic duo (Amy Dolan & Amy Fowle) created the MOST amazing centerpieces, all sourced from a local vintage thrift shop and potted with living plants as opposed to cut flowers that would wilt within days. Finally, the day would not be real to me without all of the stunning photographs, taken by esteemed Rye photographer, Stefan Radtke.

It will become not only one of the prettiest books on your shelf, but one you turn to time and time again!

Have you been to a fun luncheon lately? I’d love to know!

I had the pleasure of attending a book launch, this week, for Modern Mix, the design tome by Eddie Ross and Jaithan Kochar! The party took place in a light filled loft which is now home to an amazing new development by One Kings Lane. One which brings to life their online world. After 6 years of operating in a virtual world, OKL is inviting you in….to walk around, to look and to consult with a OKL stylist who knows the breadth of their offerings.

It’s not a store, but a place for you to be inspired. If you are wanting to refresh a space, add something unique or just bounce ideas off of someone before you hit “buy”, they invite you to make an appointment, bring in your photos, your measurements and your Pinterest Board! And, the consultation is free!

“Think of it as chatting with a stylish friend who can help you make decisions.”  ~ Susan Feldman, co-founder of One Kings Lane.Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 9.13.59 PMAlex Reid, the lead stylist at The Studio, explains the focus of this new venture well. “We’re not doing intense floor plans, we’re not gutting your home. I think we’re making it affordable and approachable to make your home more beautiful.”

I saw the space at night, with it’s amazing views of the Hudson River. Here’s a peek into the space and the party!IMG_7373IMG_7372Of course, the spread was 100% Eddie…a table laden with delicious nibbles that looked straight out of a Vermeer painting. Notice how he elevates things and keeps them at varying levels. And, I love how the grapes and crackers are just spilling over. I’m always so buttoned up…this shows how much better things can look when you let them overflow!
