Heavenly Hydrangeas

DSC_0400Ask anyone who has hydrangeas. This year has been AMAZING! Last year, not so much.

Like anything that isn’t a sure thing, when it happens it is REALLY good! Growing up in Dallas, TX, I was accustomed to the yard being dried up by July/August. So, I don’t take a summer garden for granted. And, in the Northeast July turns out to be a very good garden month.

As an added bonus, my fountain turned out to be a great holding spot for freshly cut hydrangeas.DSC_0410DSC_0404 DSC_0405 DSC_0406DSC_0408DSC_0410DSC_0407DSC_0411Wishing you a week ahead where everything is in bloom! Happy mid-Summer!!

Friday Flowers – The Flower Guy

Screen Shot 2017-01-26 at 9.59.30 PMDid you happen to notice some Springtime blooms adorning the latest J.Crew catalog? I’m completely charmed by them and wanted to learn more.

Two years ago, Michael De Feo, aka @theflowerguy, decided to doctor a J. Crew ad at a bus stop in NYC and instagram it. He thought they would be upset. J.Crew regrammed it. And, then….they invited him to collaborate with them on their latest collection. Screen Shot 2017-01-26 at 10.04.05 PMThe ad that started it all.Screen Shot 2017-01-26 at 10.12.26 PMScreen Shot 2017-01-26 at 10.12.41 PMScreen Shot 2017-01-26 at 10.15.26 PMThumbScreen Shot 2017-01-26 at 10.04.21 PM Screen Shot 2017-01-26 at 10.05.01 PM

Wishing you flowers where you don’t expect them and a very happy weekend ahead!

Garden Update

DSC_0265The summer growing season is in full swing, but is a little behind the normal schedule. My hydrangea bushes and trees have typically bloomed in full by now, but this year they are blooming a little later. I’ve also noticed that the hydrangea bushes have less blooms than in years past. That’s part of the fun….you never quite know what will happen each season.

That said, things are looking green and lush. Here’s a look!DSC_0274DSC_0267DSC_0271 DSC_0272 DSC_0273 DSC_0275 DSC_0276 DSC_0277And, of course, I always love a pop of pink with the mandavilla that flanks our back door.

What’s blooming where you live?!!
